CAPS used ActivPal technology to collect physical activity data.The ActivPal is an activity monitor similar to a pedometer that helps researchers gather information on people’s movement patterns. This device, as small and as light as a book of matches, is worn on the thigh for one week, and tracks physical activity habits: sedentary, standing, stepping, and the intensity of a participant’s activities.
The data we collect is shown in three colors: red, yellow, and green. CAPS participants wear the monitor for one week following each of the three health visits during the study. The data collected allows CAPS to track if there are changes in participants’ physical activity habits over time.
